Ilkley Arts is a vibrant arts community for anyone based in the Ilkley area who has an interest in the creative arts. Our members explore practices including painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking. We are a varied group with a broad range of interests, and there is no house style.
This summer's Walk & Draw is for all Ilkley Arts members, plus non-members who would like to take part in the single event and just get out and do some drawing!
HOW WILL 'WALK AND DRAW' WORK?
In this Walk & Draw, we will take an easy-to-moderate route from Ilkley to Addingham and stop to draw along the way. We'll meet in the courtyard of Ilkley Manor House just before 1pm, ready to get walking. Please wear comfortable and suitable clothing for the walk, and dress for the weather. We will be headed through fields, along the river and through picturesque villages; the end point will be a pub in Addingham for a well-deserved drink. You will need to arrange your own transport or route back home.
The walk itself will take about 60 minutes, and we will stop at various points along the way to draw from our surroundings. There is no expectation to draw in particular way, so bring your favoured drawing stuff and have fun!
When we have finished, you will have the option to submit a drawing for a collaborative artists book. Your £5 will contribute towards the design and printing of the book, and everyone will get to keep a copy. Please bring £5 cash on the day, and a sketchbook that has loose pages so you can select and submit a drawing or two for the collaborative book.
The pub is to be confirmed: a booking will be made depending on numbers, so please book your place so we can make a reservation big enough for us all.
Drawing in the rain is still fun, but if it's storm weather we'll need to reschedule and you will be notified the day before of any cancellations if appropriate.
Note this is a self-guided un-tutored walking event. Please ensure you are comfortable with the event plans and route, and provide for yourself any necessary adjustments or support you might need for the walking or drawing elements of the event.
You do not need to be a member of Ilkley Arts to join this Walk & Draw, and it is a great way to see what we get up to. Who knows, maybe you will become a member after?! There is no age limit for this Walk & Draw, but we ask that anyone under 18 is accompanied by a responsible adult.
