ZINE CLUB
the first Wednesday of each month
Zine Club is held on the first Wednesday of each month in the Short & Few Cabin, Ilkley. Between 7pm and 8.30pm there is time and space to put everything aside and just do some mindful cutting and sticking. Each month we'll independently respond to a group theme and each create a zine with immediate results, using a different book binding technique each month. It's an opportunity to explore, express, investigate, protest, reflect - everyone is welcomed to interpret the theme in their own way through subject matter or visual approaches.

In 2024 we met on Wednesdays for Collage Club - Zine Club is a variant on this, still with a focus on cutting and sticking. We've made typewriter art, imagined landscapes, festive feasts and distorted type. Join us in 2025 - no experience necessary, new faces welcome.

HOW DOES ZINE CLUB WORK?
It starts at 7pm and finishes at 8.30pm. BYO drink drinks if you want, otherwise tea and coffee is provided - just let me know your dietary requirements.
To cover costs, Zine Club is £15 for the 90 minutes. This covers all materials, including: book binding tools, washi tapes, sticker papers, cutters and punches, drawing and mark making tools, typewriters... we'll raid the Short & Few cupboards and use all the stuff! We'll play with different simple bookbinding techniques each month. Take away whatever you make.
You can leave whenever you need to, so don't feel you need to stay for the full duration. We'll do a little show and tell at the end, but no one is obligated to participate if they don't want to. There's plenty of on-street parking, and public transport within 15 minutes walk.
There's only 6 chairs around the table, so it's limited in that way - but in no way exclusive. Anyone who wants some down time to cut and stick and explore zine making is welcome. Booking is essential to reserve your spot and prepare materials.
